QBCC annual reporting checklist

Annual reporting is QBCC’s once-a-year check that you still meet the minimum financial requirements. Miss it, or lodge numbers that don’t add up, and your licence can be at risk.

Who has to lodge

  • Companies that hold a contractor licence, in any financial category.
  • Individuals with approved maximum revenue over $800,000 (categories 1 to 7).
  • SC1 and SC2 individuals no longer lodge (removed in March 2025).

When

  • Categories 1 to 7: most are due by 31 December.
  • SC1 and SC2 companies: due by 31 March.
  • QBCC opens the case in myQBCC at least five months before the due date and sends reminders.

What you need

  • Categories 1 to 3: internal accounts are generally accepted. Categories 4 to 7: signed general-purpose financial statements. Check the current QBCC regulatory guide.
  • A clean balance sheet: related-party loans, retentions, WIP and director loans correctly classified.
  • Evidence that revenue stayed within your maximum revenue (or that you told QBCC).
  • Current ratio of 1 or more at year end.

Make it easy

Finish your tax-year accounts early, review the balance sheet with QBCC tests in mind, and fix issues before 30 June, not after. Our 13-week cash flow forecast helps you see the current ratio coming.
